Glee Season Finale to Include Tribute to D.R.I.

HOLLYWOOD—Tomorrow night, when watching the final episode of Glee’s first season, don’t be surprised if you hear some music that’s fast, loud and obnoxious. According to an anonymous source who works on the show, a tribute to the thrash hardcore band, D.R.I., will cap off what has been a successful season for the new program. Songs from the band’s first two albums, Dirty Rotten Imbeciles and Dealing with It, will be performed by all the cast members, with all the glitz and glamour expected from fans.

“The cast has been pushing for a D.R.I. tribute all year,” said the source. “First there was the Madonna tribute, then the Lady Gaga episode. It’s only natural that D.R.I. would come next.”

When asked why songs from the first two albums will be the focus of the show, rather than the five albums that followed, the source replied, “The producers felt the crossover direction D.R.I. took was way too metal. They like the crazy, thrashy, funny stuff. The crossover experiment, they feel, was a flop.”

Guitarist for D.R.I., Spike Cassidy, was reached for comment at his place of employment, Guitar Center, in Houston, Texas.

“I think it’s great,” said Cassidy, as he stacked fifty pound boxes in the back of the store. “That means some cash will be rolling in. That’ll help me pay off some of my credit card bills, as well as part of my mortgage. I had no idea ‘real life’ could be so rough.”

Songs that will be featured on tomorrow’s night show will be “War Crimes, “Capitalists Suck,” “I Don’t Need Society,” “I’d Rather be Sleeping,” and “Mad Man,” in which the entire scene that proceeds the song will be played out in dramatic fashion by the cast members.

For those who don’t know the song, “Mad Man,” before it plays, there is a recording of someone’s father yelling at Spike Cassidy to turn the noise down. He then proceeds to call everyone in the band a bunch of losers.

“It’s a heartbreaking scene,” said the source. “It comes off funny on the album but I guarantee you there won’t be a dry eye in America when it’s played out on Glee. They really get to the crux of the scene, which is a father not giving his son the love and support he needs to make it in this crazy world. It’s going to win somebody an Emmy. I know it. I just know it.”

Glee airs tomorrow night on Fox.
